|
Large group on the carpet area for introduction to compound words. Students will sit facing the media
cart. |

Process and Procedures |
|
The definition of a compound word will be discussed while viewing slide
1. The next few slides give examples
of compound words. Each student will fold a piece of un-ruled paper into four squares. Students will read the directions on the
slide, practicing creating compound words.
The following slide allows the students to check their work. The teacher will monitor as the students
work and check their work. The
students will then work whole group to find compound words on the next few slides. On slide 17 the students will follow
directions to create compound words on the back of their white paper. The
students will then check their paper by looking at slide 18. The lesson will end with a slide which
restates the definition of a compound word.
The students will return to their seats and complete a worksheet about
compound words. |

Teacher’s Role |
|
The teacher models and leads discussion in the introduction. She will monitor as the students create
compound words. The teacher will need
to have the PowerPoint presentation ready to share with the students. She will need to have the assessment
worksheet copied and readily handy to pass out after the lesson. |

worksheet on compound words. The
teacher will walk around the room to Assist and reteach any student who needs help. |

Extend the learning by allowing the students to work with a partner to
create a compound word power point slide.
After all partners have Created their slides I will call all the students back to the carpet to
view the classes’ Power Point
presentation of compound words. |
